Famous Figures

James Braid (1870-1950) was one of the "Great Triumvirate" of British golfers, alongside Harry Vardon and J.H. Taylor. While Braid was not directly associated with Braid Hills Golf Course (the course is named after the Braid Hills area, not the golfer), his legacy as one of golf's greatest players adds to the rich history of Scottish golf.

The "Great Triumvirate" dominated professional golf from the 1890s to the 1910s, winning 16 Open Championships between them. Their influence helped establish golf as a major sport and contributed to Scotland's reputation as the home of golf.
